SIM's Context at Dalhousie

The School of Information Management is in the west wing of the fourth floor of the Kenneth C. Rowe Management Building.

This custom-designed building, officially opened in September 2005, houses the Faculty of Management’s Schools and Programs:

Physical Facilities

The School's physical space includes an administration area, faculty offices, research student offices, and a seminar/meeting room. A SIM student common room, in addition to housing seating areas, a kitchenette and student mailboxes, has numerous data ports and scanning and printing facilities. All areas of the School are equipped with high-end technology and the School is both wireless and hardwired. The Rowe Building has four computer labs for graduate student classes and project use, one of which is dedicated for SIM students.

The Killam Memorial Library houses the Dalhousie collection in the humanities, sciences, social sciences, education and management, plus Special Collections (rare books and music) and the University Archives.

University Computing and Information Services (UCIS), located in the basement of the Killam Library, maintains student computer labs which contain both PC and Apple computers. These labs are staffed by student assistants and are available free of charge for student use. UCIS also offers computer education courses. These include computer literacy (Windows), wordprocessing (Wordperfect, Word), database management (Microsoft Access), desktop publishing, (PageMaker, Adobe Photoshop), spreadsheets (Excel), presentations (Powerpoint), and HTML authoring.

Located within a short distance of the Faculty of Management are the University Bookstore, the Kellogg Health Sciences Library, the Sir James Dunn Law Library, the University of King's College Library, and Nova Scotia Archives & Records Management.
